Hoyo de Monterrey Cigars

Hoyo de Monterrey cigars have a rich history dating back over 150 years, making it one of Cuba's premier cigar companies. Founded by Don José Gener y Batet, a Spanish immigrant, the brand quickly gained popularity due to the exceptional quality of tobacco grown in Vuelta Abajo, Cuba. The name "Hoyo de Monterrey" translates to the "Hole of Monterrey," paying homage to the farm's unique concave basin that produced superior tobacco.

Over the years, Hoyo de Monterrey changed ownership several times, with Fernandez, Palicio y Cia acquiring the brand and creating the La Hoyo series for export to Switzerland. After nationalization of Cuban cigar companies, the Villazon family took over production, eventually expanding to Honduras as well. Today, Hoyo de Monterrey cigars are made in both Cuba and Honduras, catering to a global market of cigar aficionados.
