Rigs
Types of Dab Rigs
As dabbing becomes more and more popular, there are various dab rigs on the market to choose from. Whether you're looking for something simple and easy to use or something sleek and sophisticated, there is a rig out there for you. In this blog post, we will look at what dab rigs are and some of the most common types of oil rigs available on the market today.
What Are Dab Rigs?
Dab rigs, also called oil rigs, are small glass pipes explicitly used for dabbing. They have a chamber to hold water and carb and an intake form which the user inhales to pull the heated and pressurized butane-extracted (or BHO) concentrate through the water and into their lungs. The difference between dab rigs and standard glass pipes is that the bowl piece of a dab rig is moveable, allowing for different positions to smoke your concentrate.
Types of Dab Rigs
Here are some of the most common oil rig types you will find on the market today.
Recycler Rig
One of the more popular oil rigs types is a recycler rig. This model has an attached water chamber that pulls smoke through it via water pressure, smoothing out the vapor before reaching the user's lungs. The benefit to using a recycler rig for dabbing is that you can re-use your smoke or steam rather than wasting it as you would with standard dab rigs. It is also believed that the water helps to filter out carcinogens and other harmful toxins found in smoke.
Joint Rig
Another type of rig is the joint rig. Joint rigs are similar to standard glass pipes in that they do not include an additional water chamber for added smoke filtration and cooling. However, instead of having an open mouthpiece, joint rigs have a much smaller mouthpiece that fits the size of a standard male joint. This makes it possible to smoke from your rig and a pre-rolled joint simultaneously. Also, joint rigs are available in a wide variety of different joint sizes, from 14mm to 29mm.
Silicone Rig
Another type of oil rig you can find is a silicone rig, typically made from food-grade silicone. As the name implies, these rigs are often transparent to allow for viewing your concentrate as it travels through the water chamber. Although they are more fragile than other oil rigs due to their stiffness, many people prefer them because they do not contain any dangerous materials (i.e., glues, aerosol coatings, etc.) as their traditional glass counterparts do.
Mini Rig
Mini rigs are typically miniaturized versions of other types of oil rigs. They are generally made from the same materials as traditional glass rigs but are much smaller. If you are not interested in smoking with an attached joint or your hands are too small to hold a standard-sized rig comfortably, there is no better option than a mini rig. They are also straightforward to conceal and transport, making them great for on-the-go smoking.
Honey Straw
Finally, a honey straw is one of the more unique dab rigs types. A honey straw is similar to a traditional glass pipe in that it only has one chamber for smoking your concentrate. However, instead of having an open mouthpiece at the end, this type of rig has a very long and slim mouthpiece with an attached bowl at the end. This makes it possible to pull smoke directly from your concentrate rather than placing your mouth over the top of the rig like you would with traditional styles of rigs.
There are many different types of oil rigs out there on the market today, each with its distinct advantages and disadvantages. Whether you're looking for something simple or something more complex and unique, there is a dab rig out there for you.
